30 Day Book Challenge // Day 23: A Book You've Read More than Three Times

Day 23: A Book You've Read More than Three Times

I can't believe we're on day 23, and only a week away from the end of this challenge! I'm definitely being a little more creative now with the books I'm choosing!

For this particular day, I'm choosing Divergent by Veronica Roth.

For anyone in YA or dystopian spheres, this is a really huge series. If you happen to have missed this one, here's the blurb:
In Beatrice Prior's dystopian Chicago, society is divided into five factions, each dedicated to the cultivation of a particular virtue--Candor (the honest), Abnegation (the selfless), Dauntless (the brave), Amity (the peaceful), and Erudite (the intelligent). On an appointed day of every year, all sixteen-year-olds must select the faction to which they will devote the rest of their lives. For Beatrice, the decision is between staying with her family and being who she really is--she can't have both. So she makes a choice that surprises everyone, including herself.

During the highly competitive initiation that follows, Beatrice renames herself Tris and struggles to determine who her friends really are--and where, exactly, a romance with a sometimes fascinating, sometimes infuriating boy fits into the life she's chosen. But Tris also has a secret, one she's kept hidden from everyone because she's been warned it can mean death. And as she discovers a growing conflict that threatens to unravel her seemingly perfect society, she also learns that her secret might help her save those she loves . . . or it might destroy her.
Blurb taken from Goodreads.

This is one of the books that really developed my love of reading into a whole other passion. I'd always loved books, but this story really introduced me to all the different worlds I could explore, especially dystopian and fantasy fiction, which is now my favourite genre.

I loved the whole world that was created, with the different factions, and the way they represented some of the best traits of humanity. But what I loved the most was the way I connected with Tris. She's got a spark inside her that she's always had to keep contained, and I really relate to that. I loved watching her grow and change in this world.

I didn't necessarily love the entire series as much as I loved this book, but I've re-read this a few times, and I love it even more every time.
